Lift and void fill. George H.
July 16, 2021
Basement & Radon Solutions did our Poly Lift & Fill for George. Here is how it works & also some benefits- 1. Drilling holes in strategic spots on your slab – holes are drilled in the affected areas of the concrete slabs, usually in a regular pattern and spacing to allow for even pumping of concrete raising material underneath. 2. Polyurethane foam is pumped in – with the holes in your slab, polyurethane foam is pumped in with the use of a high-pressure injection gun. The material instantaneously expands and fills the voids underneath the slab and in the soil, raising the concrete to its original level. This material also helps stabilize the soil underneath by filling in the gaps and compressing loose areas. 3. Cost Effective – Concrete raising is typically half the cost of replacing the same concrete. Ultimately, the cost of raising or stabilizing concrete is a direct reflection of how much leveling material the project will require. 4. Quick-Cure Time – Polyurethane typically cures 15 minutes after injection allowing areas to be fully available in minutes instead of days. 5. Clean Work Environment – No concrete or grout spatter and no wash-down needed. 6. Small Holes – Polyurethane concrete raising creates nearly invisible 5/8" holes with minimal patchwork required. 7. Lightweight – Weighing only 2-4lbs per cubic foot, high density polyurethane's lightweight characteristics will not overburden the soil. 8. Green! – The poly foams we use are environmentally friendly, consisting of 39-49% renewable and recycled materials that are made in the USA. Most poly raw materials are petroleum-based. Our green polyurethane Biobased materials are not only good for the environment, but actually enhance the foam properties. It was a pleasure helping George make his home happy, healthy, and safe again!
78% Relative Humidity in CS John & Aimee P.
June 25, 2021
Basement & Radon Solutions, BRS Pros did quite a bit of work in John & Aimee's crawl space. This is how it went... 1. Removed all fungus/mold contaminated sub-floor insulation and moisture vapor barrier from crawl space. 2. The crawl space sub-floor wood components were cleaned and deodorized for wood decaying fungi and organic growth. 3. After cleaning an EPA registered fungicide was completely fogged throughout the crawl space. It will kill 99.9% of mold spores and will inhibit the growth of mold and mildew. 4. Our class A fire rated polyurethane closed cell spray foam insulation was sprayed on the rim joist and sill plates. It prevents air infiltration (unlike fiberglass insulation) and will insulate the wood band plate (rim joist) above the masonry foundation wall. Closed cell foam insulation (moisture and air will not penetrate this product) will fill and seal cracks, cavities and joints. 4. A 4" suction pipe installed in the crawl space. In the event the home is tested for radon in the future and found to be elevated, this component will be used with the additional exterior radon system to correct radon levels. 5. Installed the fiberglass blanket insulation to the interior perimeter foundation walls. Insulation is 4" thick which offers an R-13 insulation factor (code compliant for new construction). The insulation was hung approximately 6" from the top of the interior masonry foundation wall to provide a termite inspection and will cover wall to approximately 4" off the ground. 6. Installed our 9-mil white 100% woven reinforced liner on the foundation wall. The wall liner was then mechanically fastened/sealed to the foundation walls. 7. Installed our Premium (walk on, store on) 15-mil white 100% woven reinforced liner. The premium ground liner was nailed/sealed approximately 6" to 12" above the ground to the foundation wall. Our woven ground and wall liners are antibacterial, meaning mold and other organic growth will not grow to our liner. 8. Installed the Aprilaire Model 1850 Dehumidifier is a high-capacity solution designed for humidity control in the crawl space. The Model 1850 removes up to 95 pints (11 7/8 gallons) of moisture per day! Proudly made in USA and comes with a five year manufacturer's warranty. 9. Lastly, we installed a Hygrometer. A remote temperature and relative humidity meter stand alone unit with one remote sensor. The wireless remote sensor was mounted in the crawl space to give them an accurate reading of relative humidity. This product will help monitor the effective humidity of the dehumidifier in the crawl space. It was a pleasure helping John & Aimee make their home happy, healthy, and safe!

Passive pipe to be connected to a radon pipe installed under a reinforced moisture barrier. Gale J.
June 29, 2021
Basement & Radon Solutions added a radon fan to the Passive system to make it Active. We installed an HP220 radon fan R3. This fan comes with a 5 year manufacturers warranty. We extended the radon pipe that is connected to the radon fan, up and above the roof line to expel the radon gas safely. We also added out 9 mil white 100% woven reinforced ground liner over all earth in the crawl space. The ground liner was mechanically fastened to foundation walls and piers. All lap joints were then sealed with tape manufactured specifically for our liner to prevent moisture and retard soil gas penetration. By making Gale's Passive system Active we were able to bring down the radon levels to 0.4 pCi/L! It was a pleasure making Gale's new home healthy, safe, & happy!
58% relative humidity reading from outlet of existing dehumidifier ***Insufficient*** Karin & David M.
June 25, 2021
Basement & Radon Solutions installed an Aprilaire Model 1820 Dehumidifier. The Model 1820 removes up to 70 pints (8 3/4 gallons) of moisture per day! Proudly made in the USA. And also comes with a five year manufacturer's warranty. With the dehumidifier we installed a Hygrometer. It is a remote temperature and relative humidity meter stand alone unit with one remote sensor. The wireless remote sensor was mounted in your crawl space to give Karin & David an accurate reading of relative humidity. This product will help them monitor the effective humidity of the dehumidifier in the crawl space. After that we extended the existing radon gas pipe up above the roof line. Doing this will help expel the radon gas safely and away from their home. It was a pleasure helping Karin & David make their home safe, healthy, and happy!
