We recently purchased a home and had a Radon test completed when we had our general inspection. It was discovered that levels exceeded the recommended limit. So I began a search on local companies in the area and stumbled upon Basement & Radon Solutions. I called and scheduled an appointment and met Stanley at the home. He was on time and very professional as were every single person we encountered at Basement & Radon Solutions. It is not an easy task to find a contractor these days who calls back, who shows up, who shows up on time, who calls even if they are going to be just a few minutes behind, who does exactly what they promised (and then some) each and every time. These people did just that!! I can’t say enough about this company and everyone we encountered that works there. I have great confidence in recommending them to anyone and everyone. They were outstanding to work with.

Basement & Radon Solutions are THE BEST! They are friendly, timely, provide detailed and professional proposals (with reasonable pricing) and execute the work beautifully, when promised. What more could you ask for! While completing installation of my radon system, they discovered that my existing dehumidifier was not functioning, tested it and gave me a proposal for replacement if the original vendor would not repair under warranty. They even included a remote sensor so that I would KNOW in future if we had a problem without having to climb under the house to check on it regularly. Absolutely FIRST CLASS folks!

Colin W.
Anderson, SC

Solution Provided:

Basement & Radon Solutions, BRS Pros, did a crawlspace repair with quite a bit of work for Colin. Here is what BRS Pros did...

1. Removed all of the old sub-floor insulation from the crawlspace. Then we replaced it with a Class A Fire Rated polyurethane closed cell spray foam insulation. It prevents air infiltration (unlike fiberglass insulation) and it insulates the wood band plate (rim joist) above the masonry foundation wall. Closed cell foam insulation (moisture and air will not penetrate this product) did fill and seal cracks, cavities, and joints. Fiberglass insulation will not perform to prevent air infiltration. This product application will reduce cold spots in the floor adjacent to the main level walls of Colin's home.

2. BRS Pros installed a Pro-Series Combo Package. This package includes 2 Pro-Series Pump Systems. One pump was to replace the existing pump in the right rear corner of the crawlspace and the other pump was installed in the left rear corner of the crawlspace. The system includes 1/3 HP cast iron primary pump with dual float cages. Included is a deluxe controller that monitors pump, power conditions and sounds an alarm when problems are detected. Additionally, the pump activates weekly to exercise and extends the pumps life.

3. BRS Pros encapsulated Colin's crawlspace with a few different materials. (1) Thermax rigid insulation. This was mechanically fastened to the foundation wall and the crawlspace door to insulate the perimeter exterior walls. (2) 9-mil white 100% woven reinforced liner was installed to the foundatin walls. (3) 15-mil premium walk on/store on white 100% woven reinforced liner. This liner was installed on the floor of Colin's crawlspace.

4. BRS Pros installed an Aprilaire 1820 Dehumidifier ontop of the now encapsulated crawlspace liner. This model will remove up to 70 pints of moisture per day! Also proudly made in the USA, this dehumidifier comes with a 5 year manufacturer's warrenty.

5. Lastly, BRS Pros installed a Hyrgometer Remote Humidity Sensor. This sensor wirelessly tells Colin (from the monitor placed in Colin's home) the temperature and humidity from the reciever in the crawlspace.

It was such a pleasure to help Colin make his home happy, healthy, and safe!

Basement & Radon Solutions, BRS Pros, did quite a bit of work for Joy & Brian and it went like this...

1. Cleaning- We pulled down all of the old insulation in the crawlspace. Then we cleaned the sub-floor for wood deaying fungi and organic growth. After that we fogged the crawlspace with an EPA registered fungicide, cleaner, and deodorizer. Which kills 99.9% of mold spores and will inhibit the growth of mold and mildew. After the cleaning is all done we installed all new insulation.

2. Hydra-Channel- We dug a trench adjacent to the foundation footer along the full interior perimeter walls and installed the Hydra-Channnel drainage system. The Hyrda-Channel is engineered fusion of welded high strength polyethylene. This water system will remove storm water up to 70% faster than a pipe and stone system.

3. Waterproofing- We installed a Premium 15-mil walk on/store on liner. This liner is white, 100% woven reinforced, and antibacterial. This liner will not let mold or mildew grow on it. This liner was installed to the walls, floors, and pilers of the crawlspace.

4. Dehumidifier- We installed an Aprilaire 1850 Dehumidifier in the now encapsulated crawlspace. This model removes up to 95 pints of moisture per day! And helps keep Joy & Brian's crawlspace nice and dry.

5. Hyrgometer- We installed a Hygrometer Remote Humidity Sensor in the crawlspace. This Hygrometer is wireless and makes it super easy to keep an eye on your crawlspace. It tells Joy & Brian the temperatue and humidity of their crawlspace.

It was a pleasure helping Joy & Brian make their home happy, healthy, and safe!

Basement & Radon Solutions, BRS Pros, installed 10 8' Fortress Straps to fix his foundation. These straps are made of carbon fiber/kevlar. The top bracket is secured/bolted to the rim joist. Then the steel dual leg bottom anchor was drilled and epoxied to the floor to prevent wall shear making it 125 times stiffer than the competition. After that the high strength epoxy was applied to the wall and straps to create a lifetime of structure warranty where it was installed. These straps may be painted in the future for aesthetic purposes. It was a pleasure helping Joseph make his home happy, healthy, and safe!
