Job completed for Amy U.

Completion date: May 7, 2021

Location: Hendersonville, NC

Why did the customer contact us?

Amy had a surface trench and Sump Pump on one side of her crawl space and wanted to add a drainage system to the other walls.

Solutions provided:

Basement & Radon Solutions added a Hydra-Channel dewatering system and a Sub-Membrane radon gas mitigation system. Here are some steps we took to install these systems for Amy...

1. Installed a Hydra-Channel dewatering system. A clean trench was dug along partial front wall and entire right interior perimeter wall of the crawl space foundation. The Hydra-Channel was installed according to manufacturer's instructions adjacent to the footing. The Hydra-Channel engineered fusion welded high strength polyethylene water system will remove storm water up to 70% faster than a pipe and stone system. This is allowing water to flow freely to the existing in-ground sump pump/basin. The Hydra-Channel system will carry a five year transferable warranty to prevent water on top of the ground liner.

2. Then we installed the Sub-Membrane radon mitigation system. A 4" radon depressurization suction line was installed in the crawl space. The suction line was then extend to the exterior of the home. The radon fan was installed on the exterior of the home, the radon fan vent pipe from the fan was extend to just above the roof edge to expel the gas safely. The varmint and rain guard PVC exhaust caps were installed on the exterior radon system to prevent rain, debris, small animals and birds from entering the vent pipe. Thus guarding and extending the life of Amy's radon system. If desired the exterior system can be painted in the future for added aesthetics.

3. We also installed our 9-mil white 100% woven reinforced vapor barrier. The 9-mil woven ground liner will control moisture vapor and dampness from the ground. Most crawlspace liners are partially reinforced, our woven liner is 100% reinforced and tough unlike competitive brand liners that are only 10% reinforced. This product will not off gas (known on Google as "crawlspace cat urine odor", go ahead and check it out), we guarantee it!! Our woven ground and wall liners are antibacterial, meaning mold and other organic growth will not grow to the liner.

 4. Lastly, we installed a Manometer. A Manometer is a vacuum gauge installed on radon vent pipe. It is a homeowners monitoring gauge to insure the radon fan is operational.

It was a pleasure helping Amy make her home happy, healthy, and safe!
